The focus has shifted now away from S-Town itself and more on John. I definitely started to feel more connected to the characters as we got to know more of their lives and relationships. John’s relationship with Tyler reminds me a lot of my own Dad’s relationship with his good friend Ben, who he calls his “father figure”. John and Tyler have a unique, mutually beneficial, relationship but I think these kinds of relationships like “adoptive” kin are more common in poorer areas and is important to recognize the significance these relationships have.
