Today's Terms

One of the terms today is background. This is what appears in the text, however it is "remote" and "inconspicuous". It is also considered in the context of background reading, meaning the reader considers social and historical influences on the book. The foreground is the opposite, it is the most prominent part of the text to the reader. Point of view refers to how a particular event/text is perceived.
